A letter from Dr. Lubberts
To Our Valued Patients,
As we begin a new year, I want to share some exciting news for our practice. After 40 years practicing orthodontics and serving the Conejo from the Westlake Village community, I have decided to transition from clinical practice to spend more time with my wife, children, and grandchildren. As I considered this decision, it was extremely important to find a person to carry on the values and quality of care I have always sought to achieve in my practice. After much searching, I have found the perfect fit to continue this legacy as the new owner of this office – Dr. Joseph Mullen.
Dr. Mullen is a warm, genuine, and compassionate person who cares deeply about his patients. He is skilled in treating children, adolescents, and adults with braces and clear aligners. He has exceptional chairside manner, a light touch, and a meticulous attention to detail. However, what impresses me most is his integrity and dedication to doing what’s right; you can rely on him to give you honest and evidence-based recommendations, and I would trust him implicitly to treat my own family.
Dr. Mullen is a native Californian and a fellow Bruin, completing both his dental degree and his orthodontic residency training at the UCLA School of Dentistry. During his residency training, Dr. Mullen served as the chief resident and organized a grant-funded clinical trial to complete his Master of Science in oral biology. Throughout his dental and residency training, Dr. Mullen was the recipient of many awards for his quality of clinical care, research, and academic performance. Following his graduation, Dr. Mullen was recruited to stay as a faculty member of the UCLA Orthodontics Program and continues to train the residents there on a weekly basis. In addition to his faculty appointment, Dr. Mullen has served patients in highly reputable practices in both Los Angeles and Ventura County, and I am excited to now bring his expertise to Westlake Village.
Outside the office, Dr. Mullen loves living in Conejo Valley with his wife and four children (two boys and two girls). We have a shared devotion to our local faith communities, where he enjoys volunteering with his church youth groups. He is a gifted artist, musician, and swing dancer, but most of all loves spending time with his family.
So please join us in welcoming Dr. Mullen into our practice family! Your continued trust in us means so much to me, and I will continue working side by side with Dr. Mullen for the next 6 months to ensure a smooth transition for each of our valued patients. If you have any questions about this transition, please reach out to me and I would be happy to answer them. I am excited to progress to this new chapter and know you will enjoy working with Dr. Mullen as he becomes an integral part of our community.
