Dr. Lubberts, D.D.S., M.S.
Originally from Michigan, Dr. Lubberts completed his undergraduate degree at Hope College. He graduated with honors from one of the top dental schools in the country, the University of Michigan. There he was awarded in Pediatric Dentistry and was elected into Omicron Kappa Upsilon. Following dental school, Dr. Lubberts volunteered at Kwangju Christian Hospital’s dental residency serving and instructing in the program. He then became a certified specialist in orthodontics at UCLA. Concurrently he earned a Master of Science degree in Oral Biology. Dr. Lubberts’ research was in the use of implants to produce orthopedic and dental change. Dr. Lubberts loves his profession. He was a clinical instructor and lecturer at the UCLA graduate orthodontic program for twenty five years. He received the Clinical Instructor of the Year award on multiple occasions. Dr. Lubberts is a member of several professional organizations including: American Dental Association, American Association of Orthodontics, and the Edward H. Angle Society of Southern California. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics. Dr. Lubberts is committed to his family and faith. He has been married to his wife, Sue, for 33 years. They enjoy sports and games of all kinds, physical conditioning and travel. Active in their church, they presently participate in feeding “families in need.” They have two sons, Jeff and David. Both sons went through the Conejo school system: Westlake Elementary, Colina and Westlake High School. |

Dr. Joseph Mullen, D.D.S., M.S.
Dr. Mullen grew up in Granite Bay, CA and completed his undergraduate degree at Brigham Young University. He completed his dental school training at UCLA, where he graduated magna cum laude and was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon (OKU) Dental Honors Society. After completing dental school, he remained at UCLA to complete his 3-year residency training in orthodontics, where he served as chief resident. While at UCLA he also completed a master’s degree in oral biology, where he organized a grant-funded clinical trial of different products to reduce the severity of early cavities in patients treated with braces. In addition to serving patients here in Westlake Village, Dr. Mullen is a part-time faculty at the UCLA School of Dentistry in the Orthodontics department. He loves teaching residents in the clinic and fulfills administrative duties within the section of orthodontics. As an artist and painter, Dr. Mullen has always loved capturing the faces, expressions, and personalities of his subjects with a pencil and brush. He loves being an orthodontist because it allows him to craft and transform a person’s smile in real life to help their individual light shine through. Dr. Mullen loves treating and interacting with his patients every day, and his sincere wish is that each child and adult comes away from their appointments feeling valued and confident about themselves. Dr. Mullen is a member of the American Association of Orthodontics, the Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontics, and the American Dental Association. He enjoys participating in the local dental community and keeping up to date on the latest advances in the field of orthodontics through his professional and university affiliations. Dr. Mullen and his wife, Ana-Lisa, have four children – Henry, Daniel, Linnea, and Annika. They love spending time together as a family and are actively engaged in their local school and church communities. Dr. Mullen’s personal interests include watercolor painting, music, swing dancing, and singing Disney songs with his kids. |

We also schedule our appointments to have efficient, timely and focused meetings that accommodate our patients' busy schedules.
